As expected, the Egyptian national team was crowned champion of Arab basketball women for the fifth time after its victory over its Moroccan counterpart 96/75 at the end of the 13th edition, which was held in the Halls Complex in Cairo Stadium yesterday evening, in the presence of Dr. Ashraf Sobhi, the Egyptian Minister of Youth and Sports, Major General M. Ismail Al karaqawi the President of Arab and Emirati Basketball Federations and Dr. Magdy Abu Freikha, Vice President of the Arab Federation, President of the Egyptian Federation. Experience played its role by outweighing the favor of the land owners who are waiting for an African participation in Rwanda at the end of this month, qualifying for the World Cup finals. The first half of the match ended in favor of Egypt 56/27 and the highest score was for the Egyptian player Raneem Al-geddawi, with 25 points. In the match for determining the third and fourth places, the Algerian team did not find any difficulty in defeating its Kuwaiti counterpart 74/37 and obtaining the bronze medal. After the final match, the referees and the stars of the tournament were honored, beginning with the referees, followed by a member of the Arab Federation, Abdel Sattar Al Hamdani, by honoring the Egyptian player, Asrar Majed, the scorer of the triple throw, then Nora Ahmed from Morocco, the top scorer of the championship, and then Amr Moselhi, Vice President of the Egyptian Federation, and Nisreen bin Al Tayeb, honored her as the best player, and she was honored by Rehab Al Ghanam, a member of the Arab and Egyptian federations. After that, the first three teams were presented with medals, starting with the bronze medals by Rabeh Bou Arifi and Hassan Youssef, members of the Arab Federation, and the silver medals by Nadim Hakim, Vice President of the Arab Federation, and Hasnaa Haddar, head of the Algerian delegation. Gold medals were awarded to the champion team, Dr. Ashraf Sobhi, Egyptian Minister of Youth and Sports, and Major General Ismail Al-Karqawi, President of the Arab and Emirati federations, and Dr. Magdi Abu Farekha, Vice President of the Arab Federation, President of the Egyptian Federation, then the captain of the Egyptian team, Thuraya Muhammad, received the Championship Cup.
