Major General Ismail Al Karkawi, President of the Arab and Emirati Basketball Federations, expressed his happiness at the success of the 24th edition of the Arab Women’s Clubs, which was held in the Moroccan city of Marrakesh, saying that it is the first time that his federation has faced such difficult circumstances caused by the earthquake, which could have canceled the tournament in spite the cooperation of the Royal Moroccan Basketball Club, Al-Kawkab Club, and the Arab Confederation’s insistence on moving forward with the tournament and bringing it to the safe side. He added that the challenges did not depend only on the repercussions of the earthquake, but also included the withdrawal of some teams before and during the tournament, pointing to the role played by the organizing body in order to save the situation in light of the general conditions of mourning that the country experienced as a result of this natural disaster. Al-Karkawi stressed that the new version achieved Great successes at the technical and organizational levels, and Al-Kawkab was worthy of the title because it prepared well and strengthened its ranks with professional players with high technical capabilities.
For his part, Brigadier General Abdullah Shalabi, Secretary General of the Arab Federation, expressed his satisfaction with the success achieved, noting that the tournament went through difficult stages before it began, with the withdrawal of the Iraqi North Gas and Sennherib teams due to delays in entry visas. They were then followed by the Moroccan Majd Tangiers, after the new draw was made, and despite those circumstances. However, the Arab Federation was determined to complete its competition from the standpoint of maintaining the implementation of its programs, he was supported in that matter by the organizers.
